I.) General Guidelines for The GAYPOZ Internet
      Discussion List

The purpose of these Guidelines is to establish a general framework for the day to day Internet Discussions on the list. It is not possible to anticipate every situation which may arise in our day to day Internet Discussions. If a problem arises, the List Administrators (Moderators) will make a decision about adherence to these guidelines. Usually these decisions will be discussed with the individual subscriber via GAYPOZ List Management (GPLM) email(s) and are not subject to discussion or debate on the public GAYPOZ Internet Discussion List.

NOTE: Informational GPLMs are posted on the GAYPOZ Internet Discussion List from time to time. There is no prohibition from open discussion about these on the List.
Every subscriber should feel free to share information, experiences, feelings, opinions, and topics of general interest.

PLEASE NOTE: There is only one subject which is not permitted on this list, and that is discussions involving the scientifically discredited theory that there are other causes of AIDS besides HIV.

HIV is the cause of AIDS and no discussion otherwise will be allowed, otherwise the Internet Discussions would be taken over by denialists and all other supportive discussions on any subject would cease. Any subscriber who violates this one proscribed topic will be unsubscribed and banned from the list without prior notice.

 

II. Additional Guidelines to help make this list
      user friendly

A.) Do not post:

- Advertising of any kind

- Chain letters of any kind

- Any message containing the words 'Forward
   this to everyone you know'.

- Any message containing an attachment

B.) If you are a Researcher and/or observer do NOT subscribe because this list is for Gay men living with HIV+ who are entitled to some privacy and confidentiality.

C.) Respect each other. Do not attack another subscriber for his opinion. One can ask politely for a clarification of a point made.

D.) Each subscriber has the right to choose his own treatment methods. Do not tell him that he will die if those methods are not what you would choose, or if they are not the generally accepted methods advocated by the medical community.

E.) Each subscriber has the right to practice sex in a way that he chooses. Never tell him that he is immoral or that he is a murderer or sociopath if his sexual practice is not what yours may be. That has never been a productive way to engage someone in public dialog. It shuts the dialog down on this issue as well as other issues.

 

III.) Technical Guidelines: How to post your message

A.) Once you are subscribed, you may post messages by addressing your message(s) to: gaypoz@gaypoz.org in PLAIN TEXT ONLY.

B.) Messages MUST be sent from your SUBSCRIBED address. The server recognizes email addresses only, not subscriber names. Messages coming from unrecognized addresses will be bounced by the server.

C.) Please make sure that your email is configured to send ONLY plain text messages when posting to the list. Messages using enhanced text, stationery, HTML, attachments, or embedded graphics are prohibited because these can create problems for our visually impaired subscribers using older text to speech engines to read the list. You may, however, include URLs (hyperlinks) in your email message.

D.) Messages MUST contain a Subject line. Messages without a subject line also will be bounced by the server.

E.) If GAYPOZ email sent to your subscribed address bounces back to our server, the server may automatically unsubscribe you.

1.) List Administrators (Moderators) do not receive notice from the server about members who are thus unsubscribed.

2.) If you believe that you have been unsubscribed from the list you can send a request to be resubscribed to the list administrators (Moderators) at: gaypoz-owner@gaypoz.org

3.) Do not worry about being subscribed more than once. The server software should automatically prevent this. When contacting a List Administrator (Moderator) with any subscription request, please tell him the Format to which you are subscribed - Digest or Direct Email

4.) Please DO NOT SEND TEST messages to the list. If you think that you may have been accidentally unsubscribed from the list, send a private message to gaypoz-owner@gaypoz.org and a List Administrator (Moderator) will try to resolve the issue.

SPECIAL NOTE: This may be impossible to resolve if you have reported messages from Boy Genius Company as SPAM.

NOTE: If you are unsubscribed by the server for reporting messages to GAYPOZ as SPAM, neither the List Administrators (Moderators), nor our Pro Bono Host, Boy Genius Company will be able to resubscribe you. You will have to choose another email service to resubscribe. EXAMPLE: If you were using AOL and you reported a message from GAYPOZ as SPAM, AOL will not allow Boy Genius Company to use a different AOL email address to resubscribe you. You will have to choose another email service such as Gmail or hotmail to resubscribe.

F.) Do NOT just click the REPLY button and then click SEND.

1.) Threads evolve. If, in replying to another subscriber message, you are changing topics, please change the original subject Line of your response.

2.) THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT AND NECESSARY IF YOU ARE RESPONDING FROM THE DIGEST FORMAT; because if you do not type in your own subject LINE, the Subject of your message will be: RE: GayPoz Digest... etc. This is a meaningless subject.

G.) When you reply to a previous message, remove the Administrivia Comments at the bottom of that message, and any irrelevant text. Retain the portion of the message to which you are replying. Type your comments. Use Spell Check. Change the subject line, if applicable; and ONLY THEN click SEND.

H.) Never use the cc function. These messages are for The GAYPOZ Internet Discussion List subscribers ONLY.

I.) Do not forward or resend messages from this GAYPOZ Internet Discussion List to anyone who is NOT list subscriber; and never send a message that asks subscribers to forward its content to anyone else.

 

IV. Administrative Notes

A.) This is a PRIVATE list.

1.) Except as may be required to comply with demands from applicable Local, State/Provincial, Federal/National and or International Law officials, neither we, nor Positive Lists, Inc., nor our Pro Bono Host Boy Genius Company will ever release the email address of any subscriber to any third party.

2.) While this policy offers reasonable privacy to members of the list, please remember that not much is truly private on the Internet. Please help us to maintain an atmosphere of confidentiality and trust as far as is possible.

B.) MESSAGES

1.) Messages posted to the list are the opinion of the person who posted the message.

2.) Neither GAYPOZ, nor its owner, Positive Lists, Inc., nor our Pro Bono Host, Boy Genius Company, makes any claim as to the accuracy or validity of any information posted.

3.) Individual treatment strategies and decisions are the responsibility of an individual and his physician. Therefore, neither the originators of messages to this list, GAYPOZ, the List Administrators (Moderators), the Board of Directors of Positive Lists, Inc., nor our Pro Bono Host, Boy Genius Company, share in the responsibility for individual treatment strategies and or decisions.

 

V. Privacy

1.) This is NOT a public list. Only the List Administrators (Moderators), and our Pro Bono Host, Boy Genius Company, can retrieve subscribers email addresses.

2.) Do not rely on information posted. Check out the accuracy for yourself.

 

VI.) Pro Bono Host

1.) GAYPOZ is hosted as a courtesy by Boy Genius Company.

a.) Boy Genius Company does not monitor the contents of this list.

b.) Boy Genius Company disclaims any responsibility for any of the contents of any of the messages distributed via this list.

c.) Boy Genius Company will never distribute your email address, personal information, nor messages which pass through this list to any party for any reason who is not a GAYPOZ List Subscriber, except as required by law.
